I will repair that in a separate instructable once the door hinge is out of the way carefully drill out the hole where the screw used to be. Fortunately repairs to particle board cabinetry are relatively easy to do yourself. Stripped screw holes are common in particleboard however which is why many manufacturers no longer use simple wood screws for assembly. Particle board a composite material made of wood chips shavings and sawdust that are packed together and extruded is cheaper to use than hardwood.

Over time particle board may require repairs just like any other cabinets. Particleboard comes in many different grades some of which are quite strong and durable. Showing a little trick of the trade the roads take their toll on hinges. A quick convenient cure can be found just inside one of the cabinets.

So if you swing the door open too fast the force can rip the hinge screw right out of the cabinet wall. Particle board is more cost effective than traditional wooden cabinets which can make it a good choice when renovating. Repair a cabinet hinge screw hole with a plug. But particleboard has a major weakness it doesn t hold screw threads very well.

The small screws used to secure kitchen cabinet door hinges to the face frames of cabinets often work their way loose over time. Unless they re tightened immediately the screws will enlarge and strip the holes until it s impossible to tighten them. On my cabinets the door actually fell off because a chunk of particle board fell off. Due to the design of the doors a prefab door would stick out like a sore thumb.

Cabinets made from particleboard work great in utility and laundry rooms and they re fairly inexpensive. Because of its stability cabinet and furniture makers frequently use particleboard laminated with hardwood veneers.
